- 1 loaf Costco French Bread cut into 1” cubes to make 4 cups
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup half & half cream
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup Sun Maid Raisins
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 7 x 11 inch baking dish
- 1 baking sheet for water bath
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Preheat oven to 350F, arrange 1” bread cubes on a baking sheet, drizzle with butter, place in oven and lightly toast for about 2 minutes, until slightly browned. Arrange bread cubes in 7 x 11 baking dish.
In a bowl mix together sugar, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, whole milk, evaporated milk, half & half then stir in raisins. Pour mixture over bread crumbs and let it stand until cubes have had a chance to absorb custard, about 10 minutes. Next gently push bread cubes down so the tops also get covered and saturated with the custard mixture.
Put baking dish into a larger baking pan, add warm water to the baking dish to create a water bath for the 7 x 11 inch dish. Bake for 50-60 minutes until custard sets up and starts to become puffy and the bread golden.
Remove from water bath and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm in a cup or small ramekin. For a little extra kick top with orange flavor whipped cream, caramel sauce or Maximum Living Bourbon Sauce. It’s just that easy and never forget… You Can Do It!
